Get Up-Close and Personal With Australian Nature

With over 500 national parks and multiple World Heritage and UNESCO sites, there's no doubt that Australia is a paradise in itself. It is very rich in flora and fauna, both found in the waters and in the wilderness. A holiday in Australia should involve at least getting into any of the following noteworthy natural parks and regions in the country.

Phillip Island

Less than two hours away from the vibrant city of Melbourne is the peaceful Phillip Island. A lot of those who go here would explore the secluded bays and blowholes as well as the mysterious caves. However, the main attractions are not these natural wonders but the wildlife. At dusk, you can go up into the platform and watch the fairy penguins return to their nest from Bass Strait, where they obtain their food. During the months of October to December, these penguins are accompanied by the fur seals. Within the forests you will find countless koala bears.

Gondwana Rainforests

This massive conglomeration of rainforests is found in New South Wales and belongs to one of the World Heritage Sites. The rainforests composed of Iluka Nature Reserve, Tweed Volcano Group, Mount Dromedary Flora Reserve, Hastings Group, and New England Group, among others, support hundreds of unique species of plants and animals. There are also over 35 various kinds of bats that inhabit the huge hectares of land.

Kangaroo Island

Don't be misled by the name. Kangaroos are not the only animals found in this wild island. It is also inhabited by bandicoots, marsupials, bandicoots, and sea lions and seals. It's also not surprising to see a bunch of koalas hugging the eucalyptus trees. The beautiful beaches are secluded enough to have some privacy. There are excellent walking trails in the forests while you can take your 4WDs across the desert dunes. The farmlands give you a hint of the people's laid-back culture.

Fraser Island

The wondrous Fraser Island is mainly made up of sand. In fact, it's considered to be the biggest one in the world and stretches to more than 100 kilometers. Tours to the island may include a sumptuous lunch or dinner buffet of fresh seafoods. Try having some fun in the shifting sand dunes too as well as in the dune lakes.

Australian Alps

The Australian Alps is a testament that the country is not entirely warm and sunny. It's also not just about beaches. Up in the mountains, which cover several territories, you can find numerous ski lodges and resorts. You can also take a trip to Namagdi National Park, one of the many Aboriginal sites. Climb the highest peak known as Mount Kosciuszko and catch the most glorious sunset. Fish for trout on the streams, ride horses, or pick wildflowers from the fields.

Tasmania

No one who's ever been to Tasmania went back home unchanged. Tasmania is an eye to behold, as majority of it is wilderness. There are several reserves and national parks, and a huge land area is made of rainforests.

Australia is one of the best countries to spend your holiday in. The good news is you do have a lot of options for your accommodation, including comfortable Brisbane accommodation and Coffs Harbour accommodation.
